Gallagher is known for helping our customers look good on the outside with sharp, high-quality uniforms. We also value helping not just customers, but everyone, feel good on the inside too. Our legacy of over 124 years wouldn’t have happened based on uniforms alone. Part of it is because the Gallagher family leadership team believes our service-first approach shouldn’t only extend to our customers, it’s also about giving back to our associates and the communities in which we work and live.
Here are a few examples of what we are up to this Holiday season.
Fort Food Challenge
Combine competition with compassion and what do you get? The Fort Food Challenge. Many of the companies that call the Fort Custer Industrial Park home are in a race to raise the most money for the Food Bank of South Central Michigan over the holiday season – and we want to will win! Nobody should go hungry, and everyone deserves a warm meal on their plate, especially over the holidays.
Gallagher has been hosting several paid competitions around the office and plant such as organized football squares and pay-to-wear MSU or U of M gear in anticipation of the big game. (Go Green!) We’ve been participating in this fun and impactful competition for years, always focusing on food donation. But, the Food Bank of South Central Michigan can get so much more food per dollar if they purchase it on their own. So, we’ve changed our strategy to focus more on financial support than canned food. That’s where you come in!
The best part of this change, is now we can invite everyone to participate and help put food on the table of the most vulnerable in our community. Turkeys for Everyone!
At Gallagher, we also want to make sure every one of our employees has a joyful and bountiful Thanksgiving dinner. True to our word, we literally send every employee home with a fresh, farm turkey for their Thanksgiving meal, and have been doing so for years. To explain the day in Oprah terms: You get a turkey! You get a turkey! You get a turkey!
Helping New Businesses Call Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan Home
We are equal parts invested in the growth and development of Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan in general. New growth leads to new jobs, leads to food on the table and beds to sleep in. Our President, John Gallagher, leads that charge by serving as Chair of the Board of Directors at Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU). This nonprofit assists new and growing companies, or those looking to relocate, find the resources they need to build their business in our city. We are also heavily involved with Southwest MI First, an organization with similar goals focused on adding jobs and strengthening the economy in Southwest Michigan. John Gallagher sits on the board, and if you receive their publication, 269 Magazine, you’ve probably seen our print ads there as well.
