: History :

18931893 - John C. Gallagher founds Detroit Waste Works, Inc., producing utility rags for local businesses.

19371924 - Begins manufacturing and laundering shop towels to better serve the needs of Detroit's automotive companies. Moves to new facility.

1937 - CEO Norman Gallagher (John's son) opens a facility in Battle Creek, Michigan.

1947 - Norman's son Ronald joins the company.

1957 - Builds Gallagher Cotton Mill in Florida to produce shop, dish and bath towels.

19651965 - Builds a new manufacturing and laundering facility in Detroit and changes name to Gallagher Industrial Laundry, Inc.

1975 - To focus on the Battle Creek plant's growing potential, Gallagher sells the Detroit facility.

1977 - After graduating from Michigan State University, Ronald's son Mike Gallagher joins the organization.

1977 - Adds office space to Battle Creek facility.

1978 - After graduating from Michigan State University, Ronald's son Pat Gallagher joins the organization.

1980 - After graduating from Western Michigan University, Ronald's son Dan Gallagher joins the organization.

1982 - After graduating from Michigan State University, Ronald's son John Gallagher joins the organization.

19911984 - Completes major expansion of Battle Creek production area.

19921991 - Implements bar-code technology, putting Gallagher on cutting-edge of quality service and laundry innovation.

1992 - Builds new, state-of-the-art laundry facility.

1993 - Ronald Gallagher retires after 46 years.

1995 - Builds technically-advanced wash aisle to accommodate new Pharamcia & Upjohn account.

DVT1998 - Changes name from Gallagher Industrial Laundry to simply, Gallagher. Installs automatic sorting DVT equipment and Toyota Stockroom System.

1999 - Installs Dober Chemical Injection System to make garments the cleanest and brightest they can be.

2000 - Launches Gallagher website.

2001 – To better reflect it’s main business focus the company name is changed to Gallagher Uniform.

2002 – Adds additional heads to our Pantogram embroidery equipment to accommodate growing embroidery business. Implements Customer Management Software to better manage and track communication with customers and prospects.

2003 – Gallagher Uniform is now a 5th generation business. After graduating from the University of Michigan, President Mike’s oldest son Chris Gallagher joins the organization. Adds Retail Sales catalog to website, so customers can browse available retail items at their leisure. Upgrade garment tracking and route accounting software, which provides even more detailed garment information to our customers.
